Services were held on Thurs., 3 June, 1999 at 11:00 AM with the Rev. Gary Shew, officiating with burial in Hepler's Cjurch of God Cemetery, Pitman. He was a retuired barber and mechanic and a member of Hepler's Church of God, Pitman. He was a life member of VFW Post 2318, Shamokin and life member Disabled American Veterans. He was preceded in death by a brother, Arthur, who died in 1944 in WWII. Surviving are 3 sisters, Elva Hoch, Selinsgrove, Pa, Thelma Fisher, Selinsgrove, Pa and Louella Conrad, Williamsport, Pa. and several nieces and nephews. Born in Reading, April 16, 1918, she was the daughter of Amos and Bessie Stahl Yoder. Her husband, John, died in 1984 and a daughter, Rose, in 1988. Memorial services were held Saturday, 12 Dec. at Friedens Lutheran Church, Hegins, where she was a member, the Rev Jack Murphy officiated. Interment was in Friedens Cemetery, Hegins. She was retired from Hegins Corp. Surviving are 2 sons, John and Harvey, both of RD1, Hegins; three daughters, Carol Kukuk, Muir, Sharon Dietrich, at home and Patricia Dietrich, Pottsville; four brothers, Amos Yoder, Williamstown, Harvey Yoder, Hegins, Lawrence Yoder, Elizabethville, and William Smeltz, Millersburg. The Rev Paul Fisher, Leck Kill, officiated. Interment was at Friedens Cemetery, Hegins. She was a member of Friedens and was employed by Hegins Corp. before becoming disabled. Surviving in addition to her mother, of Hegins area, are 2 brothers, John, Valley View and Harvey at home, 3 sisters, Carol Kukuk, Williamstown, Sharon at home and Patricia, Pottsville, two nieces and nephews. Born in Williams- town, Jan. 3, 1906, she was the daughter of the late Walter and Edna Tressler Yoder. Services were held Monday, 6 Jan., at the Richard W Fritz Funeral Home, Ashland, Pa. The Rev Jeffrey Byerly, her pastor at Grace Evangelical Congregational Church, Locustdale, and the Rev Harry Dorley, of Salem ECC, Mahanoy City officiated. Interment was in Salem United Methodist Cemetery, Weishample. Preceding her in death were her first husband, David Dechant in Nov., 1944; second husband, Wilbur Tietsworth, in July, 1985 and a sister, Suzanne Sayk. Surviving are 2 daughters, Genevieve Troutman, Taylorsville and Joan Wagner, Nescopeck, three grandchildren and five great grandchildren. John Clough of the Church of Christ in Christian Union, officiating. Interment was in the Methodist Cemetery, Weishample. Services were held Saturday, March 23 in St. John's (Kimmel's) Church, Ashland RD, where he was a member, with the Rev. Jimmy Werley, Gordon and the Rev. John Clough, Ashland RD1, officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery. Mr. Merwine was a veteran of WWII and worked for Skamper Corp., Hegins, before retiring. Surviviors include a sister, Fern Troup, Ashland RD1, two brothers, Palmer and Lewis, both of Ashland RD and several nieces and nephews. Born in Hegins, 7 June, 1926, she was the daughter of the late Amos and Emma (Schroyer) Yoder. Memorial service was held Saturday, Aug.11 in Friedens United Church of Christ, Hegins, with the Rev. Robert Stewart officiating. She was employed by Bell Telephone Co. of Phila. for 30 years and a member of Friedens United Church of Christ. Survivors include seven sisters, Anna Coleman and Mrs Charles (Lillian) Schwartz, both of Hegins, Mrs. Haven (Ruth) Laudenslager, Berrysburg, Emma Scheib, Minersville, Mrs John (Alverta) Dietrich, Hegins R D, and Bessie Nixon, Lake Hopatcong, New Jersey and five brothers, Harvey Yoder, Hegins, Lawrence Yoder, Elizabethville, Amos Yoder, Willaimstown, Arthur Yoder, Tower City and William Smeltz, Millersburg. Born in Hegins Twp., March 5, 1931, he was the son of the late Amos and Emma Shroyer Yoder. Memorial servides were held on Sat., 8 Oct., from Buffingotn-Reed Funeral Home, Valley View, Claud Schach, Tower City, officiated. Interment was in Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, Annville. He was an Army veteran of the Korean and Vietnam Wars. He was retired from the Army and worked for 13 years as a messenger for Meridian Bank. Surviving are a brother, Lawrence, Elizabethville, four sisters, Anna Coleman and Lillian Schwartz, both of Hegins, Ruth Laudenslager, Gratz and Emma Scheib, Schuylkill Haven, a half brother Amos Yoder, Williamstown and a half sister, Kathryn Yergo, Tower City. Born in Lykens, 15 Aug., 1954, he was the son of Haven N and Ruth Yoder Laudenslager of Halifax.Memorial serv- ices were held Friday, Nov. 30 at Simeon United Lutheran Church in Gratz with the Rev Barry Ridge officiating. Interment was in Gratz Union Cemetery. He was a self employed carpenter. In addition to his parents, he is survived by two sons, Troy Laudenslager of Reading and Michael Laudenslager Jr.of Colorado; two daughters, Brandi Lang of Texas and Chelsea Laudenslager of Gratz, four brothers Joseph and Dennis Laudenslager , both of Gratz, and Steve and Tony Laudenslager, both of Etters, three sisters, Robin Laudenslager of Harrisburg and Penny Klinger and Sally Morgan, both of Millersburg and several grand- children., "Citizen Standard dated 5 Dec., 2001" OH1338317b Emma Esther Scheib, age 64, of Orwigsburg Manor, formerly of Hegins, died Thursday, July 9, 1998 at the manor. Born in Hegins, July 28, 1933, she was the daughter of Amos and Anna Schroyer Yoder. Services were held Monday, July 13 from Buffington-Reed Funeral Home, Valley View. The Rev Claude Schach officiated. Interment was at St Andrew's Cemetery, Valley View. She was a 1951 graduate of Hegins Twp. High School and was a retired seamstress, having worked at Meck's Knitting Mill, Schuylkill Haven. She was preceded in death by two sons, John A, in 1975 and an infant son, Arthur, in 1961. Surviving are two sons, Jerry R, Birdsboro and Larry L, Duncannon; four daughters, Gail R Ahner, Schuylkill Haven, Faith H Scheib, Minersville, Sherry A Cromleigh, Duncannon, and Judy L Schoffstall, Wicinisco, a brother, Lawrence Yoder, Elizabethville; three sisters, Anna Coleman, Hegins, Ruthy Laudenslager, Gratz and Lillian Schwartz, Hegins; nine grandchildren. "Citizen Standard dated 15 July, 1998." OH1331bb22 Ralph "Punch" Yoder of Buck Run, died Sunday, 16 April, 1995 at his home. Born in Barry Twp., he was the son of the late Irvin and Ida Yarnall Yoder. He lived most of his life in the Minersville area. Services were held Wed., April 19 from Mahal-Ritzel Funeral Home, Minersville. The Rev Paul Schaediger officiated. Interment was in Kimmel's Cemetery, Barry Twp. He was a veteran of WWII. He was a retired construction mechanic. His wife, the former Dorothy Bowers, died in 1978 and a son, William, died in 1977. Surviving are a son, Ralph, Buck Run; three daughters, Donna Martin, West Terrrace; Jean Everly, Phoenixville; and Lillian Bergan, Buck Run. OH1331bb26 Katie M Wenrich, age 71 of RD1 Ashland died Tuesday, Oct. 18,1988, at Geisinger Medical Center, Danville. Born in Weishample, Pa. April 7, 1917, she was the daughter of Ervin and Ida Yarnell Yoder. Services were held from Weishample School Church with the Rev Carl Swanger officiating. Interment was in U B Church in Christ Cemetery, Barry Twp. She was last employed as a seamstress in the garment industry. Her husband, Leslie, died in 1969 and she was preceded in deathj by 3 brothers and two sisters. Surviving are three sons, Dennis and Harold, both of RD1 Ashland, and Leslie Jr. Tower City; two daughters, Joyce Densberger, Berwick and Ruth Smith, Danville; a brother, Ralph Yoder, Buck Run; three sisters, Paearl Green and Marie Meck, both of RD1 Ashland, Mary Townsend, Ashland, 19 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren. Born in Barry Twp., May 11, 1936, he was the son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Leslie Wenrich. Celebration of his life service were held Saturday, 12 July at Porter Twp Lions Club, Tower City. He received his doctorate degree in chiropractic medicine from Palmer College, Iowa. He was the owner of the Leslie W Wenrich Chiropractic Office, Tower City, for more than 37 years and in Lickdale for more than 10 years. He was preceded in death by his wife Carol Wenrich. Surviving are his second wife, the former Jaqueline E Kendig, to whom he was married 23 years; five sons, Randy of Orwin, Brian of Virginia, Robert Stager of Jonestown, Keith DeTemple of Lebanon and Kerry DeTemple of North Carolina; seven daughters, Penny Beller of Maryland, Beth Burgess of Florida, Christy Simpson of Tower City, Lynda Carlson of Illinois, Billie Gibson of Orwin, Andrea Duhon of South Carolina and Ruby Long of Poconos; two brothers Harold and Dennis both of Ashland, two sisters, Joyce Miller of Florida and Ruth Smith of Danville, 18 grandchildren and two great grandchildren. He was born in Barry Township, 12 June, 1909,a son of the late Irvin and Ida Yarnall Yoder. Services were held Saturday, June 13 from Buffington Funeral Home, Valley View. The Rev Edward Eifert, Pottsville area, officiated. Interment was in St. John's (Kimmel's) Church Cemetery, Ashland area. Mr. Yoder was a retired insurance broker. His wife, the former Mary Green, died in 1982. Surviving are a daughter, Ellen Green, Stroudsburg, a son James of Horsham, three sisters, Pearl Green, Ashland area, Katie Wenrich, Lavelle and Mary Townsend, Ashland; a brother Ralph, Minersville, five grandchildren and eight great grandchildren. Before retiring she was employed by Pomeroys Inc., Pottsville and also helped her husband, Elvin in the insurance business. Surviving in addition to her husband are a daughter, Ellen, wife of Donald Green, RD6 Stroudsburg; a son James, Horsham, two brothers, Daniel and Allen Green, both of Ashland; a sister Grace, wife of Robert Eselby, Birdsboro, five grand- children and five great granchildren. OH1338317 Bessie Stahl's tombstone is next to Amos with dates of 1890 and 1923. Amos's date of birth is confirmed as 1889, but I could not read death date, which appears to be 19_2. OH1338318.
