I had an opportunity last month to again visit Ohio and have developed
some new information and have other updates. Perhaps the most important
piece of info I found was the death certificate for Homer E. Yoder
(YR142238). In that document his mother's maiden name
is listed as Hannah Ridge. This confirms that the Jacob H. Yoder was the
same Jacob Yoder that you listed as being married by the Rev. John Wallace
in your General Courthouse and Area Records from Lancaster, PA. Hopefully
this helps confirm that he was the son of John Yoder (YR1422). It appears
that they both moved from PA to OH about the same time and perhaps
together. Jacob H. moved sometime between 1847 - 1849 and John appears to
have moved between the time his wife died in Juniata Pa in 1846 and 1850.
John's two brothers (Jacob and Nicholas) were already there. What do you
think?
Another interesting fact, I was always concerned about the information
on Homer E. Yoder--mainly because his name was so different from all his
brothers and sisters and the fact that census records have an NR in the
relationship column (was that Not Related or Not Recorded?). After I found
his death certificate and saw his full name (Homer Eddie), it dawned on me
that minister that married his brother John (my great great grandfather) in
the same year that he was born was named Homer Eddy. Perhaps a close
friend of the family?-- Ed Yoder, June 2000

"We now know who Rachel Dague Yoder is. She was the granddaughter of
Andreas and Maria Meschter. Andreas immigrated to Philadelphia from
Durlach, Baden, Wurttemberg in 1753 with his brother, Friedrich, my
ancestor. We have that line going back to the early 17th century, if you
need it.
"Rachel's parents were Andrew Dague and Ann Good/Gude. Our Dague family
historian has a source (from Milo Hamilton -- I guess she means from a book
that Hamilton wrote) that gives Rachel's birth as about 1795 in Salisbury
Twp., Lancaster Co. It also mentions that Rachel married Christian Yoder.
Her father mentioned her in his will, "Rachel, the wife of Christian
Yoder." Apparently there is a discrepancy somewhere in the dates of birth.
This date would make Rachel about 19 years older than Christian.
"I doubt that Rachel was Brethren. Our line from Michael Dague, son of
our immigrant ancestor, Friedrich, and nephew of Andreas, was the only
Brethren line that I know of among the Dagues. Michael Dague's wife
Margaret's parents, Gabriel Schweinhardt and Esther Neff Schweinhardt were
Brethren. Margaret's grandparents, Jacob and Catherine Neff were
Mennonites who became Brethren not long after they immigrated to

Sidney YODER born abt 1871 in PA married Nellie LAIRD born abt 1873 in NJ.
They were both deaf mutes who were associated with the All Souls Church in
Philadelphia. This was a church for deaf mutes. They married October 20,
1909. Records of All Souls Church, Philadelphia show that Nellie Ella Laird
Yoder died at age 80 on Jun. 25, 1954, of "myocarditis" and is buried in
Northwood Cem., Phila. She was then a resident of 2009 E. Cambria St,
Phila., Pa. She was my g-g-grandfather's niece. At least 4 of the Laird
girls were born deaf mutes. Charles died before she did. They did have a

Clara died May 31, 1999. Clara lived alone most of her life managing a
college education through the depression years. She worked in: Chicago;
Washington, DC; and then New York in the social work field. After the
depression years she managed throughout the country and then through many
parts of Europe. She did research the Yoder heritage but didn’t connect all
the relatives- per Douglas Yoder.

Andrew married Anna Matilda Good born Mar 6. 1845 and died June 12, 1914.
Andrew grew up on a farm in Lancaster, PA and falsified his age to join the
